( No Title )
Now, I would like to take a moment to address @bpdarkstalker’s concerns with my word, in this post.
Copinglinker, also shortened by many to “c’link,” “c-linker,” and is literally one letter off from a racial slur [when shortened in certain forms and with all punctuation removed], it’s true.
But would you all like to know what other letters rhyme or are one letter off from a racial slur?
Bag is one letter from fag.
Granny is one letter from tranny.
Beer rhymes with queer.
Tyke is one letter from dyke.
Female rhymes with shemale.
Now, I’ve been called all the slurs and insults listed above. All of them and more. And yet…the other words–bag, granny, beer, tyke, female–those aren’t offensive words. They’re not bad just because they almost sound like the slurs I’ve been called. They have completely different histories, backgrounds, and meanings. I know and understand that, and I’m fairly certain people who share myexperiences also do.
The same applies to the shortened version of copinglinker (not even the word itself, just a shorthand version of it!), and in all honesty, it makes no sense to think otherwise. And if you’re really, truly offended by this word and the other words I listed that rhyme with slurs above…then you seriously need to grow some thicker skin.
Moving onto the IDing bit–
Look, I will never know what it’s like to be an abused dog. I will never know what it is like to be a canine used for scientific testing. I will never know the horrors of being tracked and hunted, ripped apart by other canids, and then having my pelt sold for fashion. I’ll never fully understand any of those experiences that some canines go through, and yet, I identify on a non-physical level as a canine. I would say that almost every therian, and that a decent number of otherkin, can also say similar.
So, yeah, it is a huge offense to say that that’s somehow wrong or terrible, because–otherkin is about identifying as non-human. We can’t share privilege levels with fucking non-human animals because, newsflash, we’re human! And even if you look at otherkin who identify as non-human animals which had societies similar to ours, or fictionkin with the same, the fact of the matter is that that society in question is not ours. Those people are not us. Their experiences will never be ours, and ours will never be theirs, even if there may be similarities between the two. Claiming that because of that fact–because it is a fact, make no mistake–people are therefore terrible for not having kintypes which are identical to who they are makes no sense.
Regardless, kintypes aren’t chosen, I couldn’t stop identifying as a canine even if I wanted to. I’ve felt this way my entire life and will probably feel it the remainder. If you have such an issue of it, why don’t you say it to my face instead of blocking me and then writing a post about me? Or are you just too afraid of the “freak”?
