why don’t you just briefly check peoples’ blogs to see if they’re a minor or not? minors won’t always have the experience to know to put their age on things so adults will leave them alone. You have to remember that not everyone has as much life experience as you.
Because its 100% not my responsibility to do so.
When someone makes a post and tags it on tumblr, it is meant to be visible and seen by the people who frequent that tag, which makes it public, and like all public information, that makes it free for anyone to react to.
If you publish a post that is meant to be seen (and thus responded to) you need to include all the information you consider relevant for people reading it in the post itself. If you are a minor, and you don’t want people over a certain age responding to your post, include that in the post or in the tags. If you have a certain mental illness and only want others who experience that mental illness to respond to your post, include that in the post or the tag. If you don’t want people to respond at all, include that. Plenty of people know how to use the tag #dontreblog, which I completely respect.
When I see a publicly posted message with information I wish to respond to, its not my responsibility to psychically guess that the author considers some information they did not include in the post to be relevant to that text and responses to that text. It is not my responsibility, or anyone else’s to hunt that information down. It is the responsibility of the author to include all relevant information in their message.
I respond to the specific content of individual posts I see, nothing else.

Maybe not, but they have the capacity to learn, and also always have the opportunity to POLITELY request that I not respond to them after our initial interaction. I will always, and have always complied with polite requests to tag certain things, or to not engage with certain people.
No minor that I have interacted with who subsequently wanted me not to interact with them due to age has been polite. All of them so far have been aggressive, and rude, outright attacking and insulting me ad hominem over my age, and stating that I am not allowed to express an opinion within my own community. You will find that I am scrupulously polite to people up to the moment they are rude to me.
And if you say I can’t blame them for being rude, because they’re minors, that’s just not how the world works. Childhood is supposed to be when you learn basic things like being polite to people.
