Crossposted from reddit. Going to be trying to run an rpgstuck game again. Originally posted 6/10/21

The kingdoms of Derse and Prospit were at war. They had always been at war. They would always be at war– until the prophecy was fulfilled and Derse destroyed Prospit, right before the Dersites were defeated and the Medium itself brought to an end.

The war was pointless.

The war was eternal.

The war was Inevitable.

Until suddenly it wasn’t.

Somehow, something changed, and Derse and Prospit have forged an uneasy truce in the middle of an endless and brooding cold war. Skaian farmlands are divided equally between moons, and the White King reigns with his Queen on Prospit. The whereabouts of his counterpart; the Black King are not so well known, but it seems the Black Queen reigns unconcerned in his absence.

What stone cast in the pool of fate has changed the inevitable from its course?

How has the shift in the political landscape echoed out into the medium’s lands?

How will it change the shape of the goals and destinies of the fated heroes of legend?

ShadowStuck

WHAT:

  • A SBURB session with an emphasis on politics, espionage and investigation, and a distinct lack of focus on combat. Expect to interact significantly with both fellow players characters, and a cast of NPCs.
  • We will be using milestone level ups rather than XP level ups

WHO:

  • Six player slots
  • Humans only.
  • Modern earth
  • Characters age 16-20, with wiggle room if you ask.
  • Several people have asked, so yes, feel free to use reskinned troll racials for human characters.
  • I’d prefer to keep significant sci-fi or supernatural/magickal elements out of backstories, so try to avoid these. Characters who have psionic abilities will get these as they enter the game, rather than as part of their backstory.
  • This session is likely most interesting for players who are invested in world building, character growth, player interaction, and meaningful relationships with NPCs.

WHEN:

  • Apply before 12 noon EST June 18th
  • The game runs on EST time and the SM is an early to bed, early to rise type.

WHERE:

  • Discord server

WHY:

  • Why not? It’s the ten year anniversary of my first SBURB rp session and I want to run another one in the name of nostalgia. I’m allowed to make potentially bad decisions.
