Title: A Rain of Ice
Series: Adventure 02
Character: Ken
Rating: PG maybe PG-13 for angst factor
Word count: 256
Constructive Criticism: Sure, why not.
Sometimes Ken would wake up screaming. Other times his screams were not enough to drown out the memory of his dreams. Sometimes he would stand in the shower at three in the morning with the lights off and the water as cold as it would go, letting the icy torrent assault him, beating him down, drowning his tears and making him numb.
Sometimes numbness was all that Ken wanted, sometimes it was the only way the sensitive boy knew how to control his emotions; just to try and shut them off completely. Day to day Ken exerted rigid control of his feelings, even his thoughts. A smile here, a laugh there. Under the light of the sun Ken Ichijouji was healed and whole. But in the dark of night the Kaizers still ruled over the only country that was left to him.
At night was when the memories, and desires and delusions of the Kaizer came alive once more, full of fire, and madness, and the crack of the whip. Dreams assaulted the mind of the raven-haired boy more terribly and completely than mere water ever could, befouling his mind with an invisible and putrid stain.
Ken knew he would never be able to cut the darkness from him and watch it spiral down the drain. The darkness ran so much deeper in him that mere blood. But he could still make certain that the Kaizer was repaid. He could match the sick pleasure of every twisted dream with tears and screams and a rain of ice.
