Meals in the Household
I feel like the flist could use some levity, so I’m going to share this anecdote.
When we were a kid our parents often complained of how picky an eater we were. In actuality, we both have fairly broad tastes, the problem, even before we knew consciously we were separate, was agreeing on what to eat.
To demonstrate, consider the conversation below, which happened only moments ago. I want to emphasize that this happened pretty much exactly as described, and is symptomatic of what goes on all the time. Sometimes with more people expressing an opinion. (and more swearing, too. -D)
Mordax: (reaches in the fridge) Hmm, need something quick. Bologna sandwich?
David: Yeah, sure. Wait, there’s no cheese. (looks in the freezer) How about a pot pie?
Mordax: (closes the freezer, back to the fridge) Too much effort. Besides, the little carrots never fully cook.
David: (closes the fridge, back to the freezer) Well I’m not eating bologna unless there’s cheese. Its disgust.ing
Mordax: (takes out the pie) It is not. Oh fine. Pot pie it is. Wait a sec, there’s no time for that. Rin will be here soon. (puts the pie back)
David: Just microwave it.
Mordax: (fridge again) What, and burn my tongue? No thanks. We’re having bologna. (pulls out bologna and mayo, makes sandwich, ignoring David’s protests)
Several minutes later
David: This tastes foul, why did you use so much mayonaise?
Mordax: Shut up and let me enjoy my sandwich.
