Ah the Black King. There is at once so much, and so little to say here. I wrote before that the Dersites fight their war for survival, and this is true– just not for the Black King.

The Black King is– or rather, thank, fully *was* in my own session– a ruthless, egomaniacal, tyrannical, bitter hateful bully full of bloodlust and desire for conquest. I have been told by former soldiers serving under him that he would often wax poetic about his desire to crush the life out of his twin the White King. From what these soldiers said, the descriptions bordered on the pornographic.

Following his death, the Black Queen has made no secret or her hatred and revulsion for the King. Unlike the White royals, for whom the constant war was a cruel parting of lovers, there was no love lost between the rulers of Derse. The Queen is by all accounts pleased to be a widow, and anecdote suggests that the King believed the Queen to be  treacherous, foolish and spineless. (None of which, I can say, are true).

So yes, dear anonymous, the Black King was hated by all who were not as fanatically hateful as he was. And of those number, all who could not keep their mouths shut after his death have been summarily executed.
