it’s not very cool that the only thing you could come up with for the non-crew dersites is “she’s a scary bitch!” just think about that for a second, please.
I will admit my poll of Dersites was not exhaustive, though that is because I typically spend my time around the palace. To be frank, I didn’t think that it required casting a wide net, as typical Dersite sentiment is roughly the same.
Please consider for a moment that most Dersite citizens do not know the Queen personally, only her public persona, which is frankly quite forbidding. Those of us closer to her may be aware of somewhat of a softer side– somewhat. The truth is that the Queen is a frightening woman, both by reputation and in person.
Additionally, the question was not ‘what is the Black Queen like’ but what do Dersites think of the Black Queen. They think she’s ‘scary’. They don’t want to cross her. She is beautiful and terrifying; an image which I believe is carefully crafted, and that the Queen herself is very proud of.
She is a war ruler. The tyrant of a species in constant struggle from the moment they were created. She has few friends, and little help. Her closest adviser is, and I say this with fondness, scheming, ill tempered and lazy. Her husband was both absent, and outright abusive. If her manner is cold then it is because she must be cold. A ruler in her position can afford mercy, but not weakness.
I will admit to a personal admiration of the Black Queen and I am frankly, rather offended that you suggest I have not presented a fair image of her. Had I cherry picked responses to paint her as some kind of a delicate figure, I am sureI would have earned the ire of some other reader– and certainly the ire the Black Queen herself,
