How do I personally feel about Democracy? To be frank, I have rarely been for it, as the rule of the masses is often confused. As far as I am concerned rule by Democracy is only as intelligent as the least intelligent person allowed to vote- however, I am aware that this is not a popular opinion.

As far as Dersites who desire democracy go, the skaian colony has in fact been established as one, in the wake of the peace between Prospit and Derse. The remnants of the largest group of deserters have started a government, run by a war hero known as the Worthy Victor which is nominally a democracy. I say nominally, as I doubt that WV will ever be voted out. Democracy is a little strange when everyone is immortal.

As for democracy on Derse itself, I am sure that it will never be instituted. Derse is ruled by custom and design by the holders of the ring and the scepter. Unless these are destroyed somehow, I simply don’t find it likely that Derse will ever be ruled other than by a monarch. Most Dersites simply are uninterested in politics, and Dersite law is largely unchanging since the beginning of the medium. There are simply few issues that need discussing. Government on Derse is mostly a matter of collecting taxes, policing criminals, and spying on Prospit.
