How did you get SBURB?
My copy of SBURB arrived in the mail on two burned CDs in late November, 1998. It was sent to me by Alex, the Bard of Hope of our then-future session. He had received the original copies to his house in a plain brown envelope, with a typed note claiming that they constituted an unreleased beta of a multiplayer online game. It did not come with any further description, instructions, pictures or anything of the sort.
As an avid gamer and hacker, Alex’s natural reaction was to copy the disks and send them to the six of us, right after determining that it did not constitute a computer virus.
There was some speculation about the identity of the sender at the time. Though once we began to enter, and I realized the significance of the game (that it would be our portal to the medium), we all agreed that their identity was of little significance, and in fact there might actually not *be* a sender of any kind.
