Mordax et al

Been talking with my Meenah about memories, especially body memories, and one of the strongest I’ve had so far has been about my right eye. The vision eightfold.

For me the eye was not as neat or pretty as it is depicted in the comic. The vision eightfold was basically a deformity. My iris was messed up- like it was broken up into smaller chunks around the pupil throughout the sclera.  It looked kind of like it had been cut apart and healed, even though it had been that way since I was small. I think I was born with it.

I think a bit at least I was selfconscious about it. Even wondering if I could get culled for it. So I talked it up like it was practically a superpower. Honestly that’s something I did a lot in that life, and this one. Talk a big game when something gets to me.

The truth is, even if it was fucked up, the eye was pretty badass. Fuck knows why but the vision was better than in my normal eye. I could see over greater distances, sharper, and with better night vision. I don’t remember whether I could really see *through* shit. I think that was more something I talked up, and that was part of my empathy/telepathy abilities.
