Teeth and Gills
In this life, I felt a deep disappointment as a child. My teeth. When my teeth grew in, I remember checking every day. Had they become sharp? had they grown into points? Nah. They hadn’t. They never did. But for some reason I felt I was supposed to. What’s this glubbin’ supposed to lead into? Surprise. It’s teeth.
The way I remember teeth is that they kind of became more predatory the higher up the hemospectrum you went. Lowbloods tended to have flatter, more humanoid teeth. Then as you went up, you’d get more…points, to say the least. Elongated and sharp canines, sharp front teeth, and flat back teeth. Things like that. Seadwellers though. We had mouths full of knives and needles. Sharp teeth, and fangs. I remember Cronus having these long, thin fanged teeth like a barracuda. I remember I had teeth like a shark. sort of wide, pointy and serrated. I loved them, and loved the way they looked when I grinned. Thought I looked like a badass.
I felt like a top predator, swimming through the ocean, grinning my jagged smile. It was a good feeling while it lasted. There weren’t many places to swim on the pink moon.Swimming in the ocean was one of my greatest joys. I won’t lie, I fucking *frolicked* in the water. Gills helped with that. I remember my gills being on my neck , fuchsia slits with a sort of sort of feathery appearance when I was in the water (they were open), that was less overstated when I was on land and they were closed.
I was comfortable living on dry land, and could breath just fine, though it as a bit harder than it was in the water.I had to breath a bit heavier. I was more comfortable in the water, but it seems we were built for both land and sea.I’ll have more memory posts soon. I’m just writing as it comes to me 🙂
