A system is the internal group of people that make up all of the persons sharing the body of a multiple.
This can refer to both the alters/facets of a person with Disociative Identity Disorder, or to the headmates of a natural multiple, however there has lately been a push from DID individuals for natural multiples not to use the term. Mental collective is a comparable, and more easily understandable alternative.
Basically a system is a group of people sharing one body/mind for some reason, be it mental illness or other.
