( No Title )
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d be really insulted if I created a game or published a book, and some fictionkin fucker said “I am Serenti. I am honestly Serenti, I share his personality and memories.” or “I was Faythe in a past life”.
This is MY CREATION. I made it. It is not you, you are not it. Some belittling and discrediting my creation from my imagination by claiming it’s literally your life and your soul.
You are not Sans. You are not Napstablook. You relate to them on an emotional level, but you are not them. They do not exist, and never have existed. They never will. They are imaginary, and created by another person, from their imagination. They are not you, you are not them. Stop lying to yourself and get some mental help.
It is one thing to connect with a character, or relate to a character. That’s perfectly okay. It’s okay to say “I wish I was this character because of how much respect they get” or “I idolize this character for their emotional strength”. There is nothing wrong or unhealthy about that.
Telling yourself, and other people “I don’t like roleplay or fanfiction because I AM this video game character inside and out, and I don’t like people fantasizing about me” is NOT healthy.
I doubt this will be the last time I have to say this, but I’ll say it again.
Fictionkin is not plagiarism. Fictionkin has NOTHING to do with plagerism or ‘stealing an author’s work’.
Fictionkin do not believe they ‘invented the character’, or ‘came up with them first’.
Having fictionkin in no way invalidates the creativity and hard work of the authors, animators, artists, actors etc who are responsible for creating a work of fiction, and to claim that they do is laughable to the extreme
