Also if the best thing you can say for atheism is that its not responsible for mass murder, you’re sort of damning it with faint praise.
All I can think about is the conservative atheist (very, very, vocally and passionately atheist) who my bio-mom got involved with. He often said that if he could get away with it legally, he’d personally shoot every religious person he could. Especially Muslims, because in his opinion religion was the source of all evil in the world. This guy was fucking insane. I knew him unfortunately for a month, and he actually tracked me down over a year later to find what I’d changed my legal name to. His atheism condemned lgbtqia people, so he felt the need to alert anyone who would listen to him in her side of the family of what I’d done.
Yeah, I generally don’t trust atheists. When they try to play all pure and above it all I get even more suspicious. I know part of this is from the trauma of being stalked like I was and exposed to a person like that, but there it is.
