Since Tumblr cannot tell racism apart from sharing culture, I would like to point something out.
This is yellowface:
This is not:
This is blackface:
This is not:
*color*face is the intentional mockery of a race by imitating an epitomized and perceived stereotype, typically for comedy purposes. *color*face is not a person sharing in a culture or doing something you assume was ‘invented’ by another race. *color*face is not an actor who happens to play a character of a different race. *color*face is not someone with a tan. *color*face is not someone cosplaying as a nonhuman.
So to recap,
Blackface:
not blackface:
Yellowface:
not yellowface:
There ya go

The Dark Link cosplay is InkyLink for those wanting to know
I don’t even know where to start.
1. This sets up a false dichotomy. Either something is “*color*face” (wtf?) or it’s not even a little racist or problematic! That’s not how anything works.
2. “Sharing culture” assumes a freely chosen act of allowing another to partake in one’s culture. That is not what is going on when, say, a white actor takes the rare role that, according to the text, should have gone to a POC. That is also not what goes on when white people with dreadlocks are viewed as stylish and cool while black children are literally being suspended from schools for wearing their hair natural. When you appropriate someone’s culture, you are (at best) erasing the history and context that come with it while abusing your privileged position in Western society. This is not a difficult concept to grasp. DON’T TAKE THINGS THAT AREN’T YOURS, KICK THE RIGHTFUL OWNER WHILE THEY’RE DOWN, AND THEN CALL IT SHARING.
3. The Dark Link cosplay is not racist. That’s just a cool costume. I don’t understand how you can think that photo belongs in this set.
Multiple things wrong with your post, but i will be concise because we have already addressed each and every one of these already and it has become a waste of time.
1. It is not eithor or. People on this site jump to the conclusion of racism and blackface much too quickly, to the point that it dilutes the term.
2. Black people did not invent dreadlocks. It is not theirs to own. People have done it all over the world.
3. White people who wear dreads are not perfectly accepted as you assume they are. White people in dreads are stereotyped as hippies. Hippies are stereotyped as lazy, smelly, stupid drug users.
4. Actors are literally there to act. If you think that the color of someones skin doesnt define them and that we shouldnt rely on stereotypes to identify them, then any race can play any race. It relies on personal skill, not racism.
5. What you are asking for with your cultural appropriation rant is segregation. You want people to stick to their own races. You are discouraging sharing of culture. Your argument is actually the same as many kkk websites which is basically “dont mix cultures”. Without the sharing of cultures, we would not have Japan, because in your world, China and Korea would have stayed in their lanes. Without sharing of culture, Many African dishes would be bland because people didnt want to go to India and mix cultures. No one kicking anyone, except you of course and your “i hate white people because they are all racist and my hate for an entire group of people based on their skin color isnt racist because i say so.”
6. “POC” is just “colored people” with the adjective and noun switched. It is a way to create an “us vs. Them” mentality by separating white people from every other race, which is literally what the term “colored people” was doing. You might as well be calling me colored.
6. It would be wise to vent your pro segregation to a different blog.
ahahahahah
omg, this is the funniest thing i’ve read in a long time. tell me this, are you actually so willfully ignorant as to believe this? or are you just banking on others not seeing through your racism?
rhetorical question, btw. i don’t care.
I can see that your ability to make counterarguments is strong.
