For a website that is apparently caring and supportive of people that suffer from mental disorders such as; depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and many, many others it is very surprising to me that a large portion of its users seem to think that it is okay to romanticise and glorify these conditions.
I am not saying that there is anything wrong with people that actually do suffer from mental disorders, I am saying that it is wrong to draw attention away from the people that actually do have these problems and focussing it on others that use the terms as a fashion statement or as a way to seemingly compete to see who fits into the most minorities as possible.
By doing this you are actually causing more damage than any potential good that could come with the increased awareness because you are trivialising the issues to the extent that a lot of people now think that these issues are jokes. If you really do have “headmates”, you should see a therapist so you can start to deal with and understand your schizophrenia.
If you really do believe that you are anything other than human, you should see a therapist so that you can come to terms with your Species dysphoria.
If you really do suffer from depression or have suicidal thoughts, you should talk to a loved one and try to overcome it.
If you really do suffer from autism, you should talk to a qualified doctor so that you can handle your disorder. If you claim to have any of these issues when you don’t. Please, as somebody who has suffered from depression and suicidal tendencies and has lost people to suicide, as someone who is best friends with somebody who truly does have severe
schizophrenia, as somebody who has autistic relatives, please stop.
Why did you tag this ‘otherkin’?
Also headmates/alters are a symptom of DID/OSDD, not schizophrenia.
I tagged otherkin because i address species dysphoria..?
but you are semi-right on the headmate point, I apologise
As far as I am aware, ‘species dysphoria’ isn’t a recognized symptom of any mental illnesses. The closest I can think of is clinical lycanthropy, but that’s where you’re under the delusion that you literally turn into a wolf.
Schizophrenics can hear voices and have audio and visual hallucinations. That’s not anything like the experience of those claiming to have headmates.
