Grounding
I’m not going to lie. Grounding, out of the several things I do to prepare for performing spells and rituals and such, is the hardest. For some reason, I find it the hardest to visualize (with shielding being a close second), so I thought I’d share a few little things I do to make it easier!
Touch things
Grounding doesn’t have to be this picturesque, completely still, quiet ordeal. Nothing makes me feel more real and present than feeling things. I touch the floor beneath me, run my fingers down the legs of my altar, brush my palm against the wall, feel the heat of the radiator behind me.
Look around
Sometimes it’s so much easier to see with your eyes open. I’m partial to just looking around, observing my space in order to feel more connected to it. Look at the ceiling, the corners of the room, the doors and windows, the furniture. Getting fully acquainted with your space will make it 101% easier to ground, trust me.Physically ground
I’m talking stomp around, lay on the ground, sit down heavily, etcetera! Imagining tree roots and tonnes of water and whatnot is nice, but sometimes you just have to actually physically connect with the ground.
Keep in mind that these are what work for me, and they may not for you! ALSO keep in mind that you don’t have to fit a certain criteria for preparing for spells. Your practice is malleable, and you should do what works for you.
