The net result of a lot of discourse from WITHIN the queer community is me feeling like I’m not welcome anywhere, being a nonbinary transman.
I was a woman, but that’s in the past, so I must be hyperaware of potentially ‘invading’ women’s spaces-giving me no outlet to express aspects of my past. I was hyper femme once. I know misogyny.
I don’t fit the popular binary ftm narrative. I’m asexual and meek and transitioned late. In trans spaces I’m an oppressor because of my supposed male privilege-it’s not a privilege if I’m assumed to be cis, it’s erasure. In queer men’s spaces I feel dysphoric at best, faced with disgust over my AFAB body at worst. It’s all so very wearying. I wish this trend of backbiting would stop so we could focus on elevating each other instead.
