Otherkin…wtf
Otherkin is just another excuse, especially for my friends. In the past 5 months they seem to have quickly acquired many mental illnesses and begun to take tumblr too seriously. specifically one friend. He suffers from depression and suicidal tendencies and is transgender. My issue is that he now has bpd, schizophrenia, autism, paranoia, anxiety, trichotillomania, OCD, dermatillomania, and mpd. He also gets offended by everything, has issues with cultural appropriation, slut shaming, and was supposedly raped. Now him and another girl have found this idea of otherkin and “systems”-whatever those are. It honestly just seems like a twisted coping mechanism and a way of being an attention whore. If anyone wants to explain to me what the hell is going on, feel free. It seems like one big joke to me.

Someone who discovers through personal experiences and phenomena that they are spiritually or mentally any type of non-human creature.” For some this means a past life, or a magical connection, or that they simply consider their mind closer to an animal one than a human one.
The otherkin community is mainly made up of people who are sincere and thoughtful in their beliefs, however, there are also some people who latch on to the identity as just another word to add to their growing list of identity words. However, for many people being kin is a serious spiritual belief.
