( No Title )
Fallout 4 is practically unplayable on an emotional level if you actually believe in the rights and personhood of machine intelligences.
It really is though. As someone who believes in the rights and personhood of machine intelligences, it’s a difficult game to play. My sole survivor , Wanda, also believes in this. Wholeheartedly.
And she just wants to die through the whole thing . People treating synths like objects, like abominations, or something to be feared. Like their free will means nothing. And we have to sit through conversation after conversation , never able to speak our minds .
“Do you think you could ever love a synth” Father asks, to which Wanda, and I wish to reply YES you idiot! Because they’re people too! But all the answers are shades of ‘no’ not a single definitive yes.
Synths are routinely memory wiped. They lose who they are , who they were. Either to become slaves once again, at a clean state, or to become some random human with false memories. And…while the railroad is noble in its pursuits, it’s flawed. And their kill everything response , while the one I’m going to go with, wastes so much technology that, in the hands of non-institute minds, could help many people.
Dialogue choices are stifled here too. The constant bashing of synths is everywhere, out in the commonwealth. People calling Nick horrible things, people spitting with hatred towards them.
I get Bethesda wanted to tell a story, but I can’t tell what their fucking moral is. I can’t tell. Except for one thing. Most people in the game try to ram the ‘not people, abominations/objects’ philosophy, that it becomes cringing to listen to. It’s hard to smile and nod through some of these conversations.
I just want the synths to be free, happy, and accepted as people too.
Excuse me, I need to go be upset -_-
