We’ve got a million and one examples of villains becoming villains after being rejected by heroes in some kind of (traditionally innocuous or otherwise unintentional) way. And we’ve got a fair number of villains who are reformed and become heroes themselves, after being showed kindness or friendship by heroes.
I’d really like to see something where the villain becomes a hero mostly out of the growing awareness that the other villains are just total dicks, y’know? And dicks to the villain, personally. And out of sheer belligerent grudge-holding the villain goes out and very effectively kicks their asses and ends up accidentally Doing Good, just because they want to fight them more than they want to fight any heroes.
