another thing im going to complain about from hskin: using the word “gatekeeping” to describe someone who doesn’t believe you should id outside your race or ability
gatekeeping is NOT word to be used lightly. it is not for drama like this. gatekeeping is an actual PROBLEM for minorities, not your kin shit.
it doesnt matter if you fit into categories of people who are gatekeeped- it doesnt MATTER. the fact that you are misusing the word and trying to make light of it is disgusting tbh.
“you dont think i should id outside my race/ability? THIS is gatekeeping you disgusting bastard!”
“you don’t think i should transition even though i am 100% positive i am trans? you won’t let me transition even though i have had to put myself through hoops to even be recognized as a “real trans person”? this is gatekeeping!”
The term ‘gatekeeping’ dates back to 1947 (link) and is used in all kinds of contexts, from fandom, to publishing, etc. (link) The term gatekeeping is not automatically a marker of a ‘serious issue’. (link)
