Sorry, but, if you use pronouns that aren’t she/her, he/his, they/them or even it, then I can’t take you seriously. Like, xir, zir, where the heck did these even come from?
“But I don’t identify as male or female…” Then use ‘they’! You don’t need to make up pronouns to stand out or feel special, you’re already non-binary, god damn!
What’s even worse is otherkin or fictionkin who identify as random shit and then centre their pronouns around that.
“I identify as the rabbit from zootopia and my pronouns are bun/buns/bunself”
Stfu, you’re not a fictional character. You weren’t a fictional character in your past life either because, fun fact, they’re fictional!
This is gonna turn into a rant about otherkin if I don’t stop here now but yeah, point is please stop making up pronouns. Nobody is taking you seriously.
Alright, on neopronouns (xe/ze/etc): you can see the history of them on this wikipedia page by clicking the ones with blue links. Mobile link, if needed.
On nounself pronouns: I’m 95% sure those were made up by trolls, as I’ve never actually seen any otherkin using them.
Thing is tho, I’ve literally never seen ‘neopronouns’ used outside of the internet. In fact, the only place I’ve honestly seen them used outside of tumblr is on a site called Chicken Smoothie, which is just full of cringeworthy angsty teenagers going heavily through their scene phases.
I used the rabbit from zootopia as an example because it’s one I’ve experienced; there’s literally a girl in my class that openly identifies, presumably as otherkin or fictionkin, as that rabbit and she frequently asks for bunself pronouns to be used for her. Not even the teachers will take her seriously.
That being said, I have met a fair few people similar to this and have still never come across anyone who uses neopronouns over real pronounsv. Plenty of people who use nounself pronouns tho. They were all pretty, uh, special.
people generally won’t ask anyone but code friends to use neopronouns irl, even if neopronouns make them feel more comfortable, because of the fact that people won’t take them seriously
I do wonder where this elusive community exists then, because I myself am non-binary, the majority of my friends are also, my best friend and I have always attended various LGBT/NB clubs in both our schools and our local community where the leaders have often asked whether people use other pronouns. Nothing has ever expanded past ‘they’ and, living in the UK, there really is very little stigma around LGBT or non-binary people, so there’s very little reason not bring it up to an open-minded group created to specifically discuss and encourage the existence of these things. We actually had a discussion about ‘neopronouns’ in one of the very first clubs we went to and literally none of the NB people saw any point in them with the existence of ‘they’.
huh, idk then. i’m just saying what i’ve read, mostly, since i’m not nonbinary myself.
