Rules
So I thought i’d get some actual rules written, for the trueotherkin blog.
I don’t think it needs to be said but anyone is permitted to read this blog, unless you get yourself banned from even doing that.
To expect to become an approved submitter, or having your posts approved, you should conform to the following rules:
1) In the description I mention a few kin types that I find to be invalid by default. This does not mean I cannot be convinced otherwise. It means the burden of evidence for the reasonability of your claim is going to be greater than those who say that they are simply a fox or something.
2) Trolling otherkin in general, don’t even bother, your post will not be approved.
3) As I described before in my “Where to draw the line” post, If you are a kin claiming to be a fictional species, like an MLPkin or a pokemon kin, this is going to be far more acceptable, than if you are claiming to be Twilight Sparkle.
3a) As a corollary to the last one, if you are Steven Universe kin or Homestuck kin, forget about posting here. These are just tumblr bandwagons. Please grow up.
4) If you have made yourself designer pronouns, like ones based on species and not gender, do not expect to be approved to post or to have your submissions approved. This means, pretty much, that you do not know what a gender is.
5) On the subject of genders, Hermaphrodite pronouns are acceptable, as well as being genderfluid, as well as being binary (male/female) and even no gender is acceptable. Please do not use tri-gender to mean you are genderfluid. If you have made up your own gender, expect to have to explain why before you get to post.
6) If you have made yourself a designer sexual orientation, it will be evaluated for reasonability, and if not found out to be so, you will not be approved to post. This will probably be more weakly enforced than the others, but is here so that if someone does create an unreasonable orientation, they can be reasonably excluded from posting.
0) I reserve the right to alter these rules as peoples posts prove that the rules need altered and required.
I would go through and comment on each of these ‘rules’ one by one, but I don’t feel the need to bother.
Why?
Because all these ‘rules’ are going to achieve is that no one is going to want to interact with your blog in any way, whether reading or contributing to it.
It comes off as incredibly elitist, condescending and ‘old school’ in the worst way. I say that as a 10 year veteran of the kin community, and a 30 year old who can’t stand this tumblr culture.
I find myself particularly stuck on two things: the fact that you seem to think people will be beating down your door to have the privileged of contributing to your blog, and the fact that you felt the need to use the term ‘hermaphrodite’.
