Yeah, true. Religious cults and the psychology behind them are sort of a minor academic interest of mine, so I already knew that, but some asshole who doesn’t know shit about GT or Scientology is going to inevitably perform the mental gymnastics necessary to link the two. And when they do, I will be Ready.
Incidentally, since you mentioned Heinlein, isn’t the Church of All Worlds loosely based on some of his writing?
Yeah, unfortunately uneducated people will make all kinds of comparisons and links where they don’t belong. I’m sure when the scientology Discourse comes for you, you’ll lay the smack down.
I wasn’t actually familiar with the Church of All Worlds before this, so now I learned something! Apparently yes, it IS based on the works of Heinlein. Hopefully my father will never find out, lol.
