I really have to assume that the whole “royalty” of the “kingdom” thing is purely ceremonial because seriously none of these dorks have experience in any kind of administration. (Except Dad Crocker.) Or interest in it. Or would be able to agree on how to do it. Or want to do it, I expect.
Logically speaking the place is probably still running under whatever it was running under before they arrived… which 5000 years later seems like it could be practically anything, really, but hopefully it was unobjectionable… only now with decorative creators for spectacle and any necessary miracles.
I think the best interpretation is like how Athena is the goddess of wisdom, war, and crafts – that’s her purview, on which her powers are based – but the patron of Athens. our kids (and Dad) are now patrons of a different species each.
