Is like saying:

“Bipolar Disorder causes chemicals.”

-Pride

DID does cause systems? That’s like half of the disorder? This is like saying depression doesn’t make you depressed. It makes no sense. If people with DID have a certain symptom (alters), it’s because they have DID. What else would do it? God?

Read them.

“DID” is not a tangible thing that can “cause” anything else.
It is something that is caused.
It is a term used to describe the situation when all 5 criteria are met.

The criteria are for the disorder; plurality is one of them.
Only 2 are “symptoms” in the classic sense.
1. Plurality
2. Amnesia.

The other 3 criteria are circumstantial.

In order for the first to be valid you don’t need the other 4.

Having a trait that is considered but one symptom of a mental disorder doesn’t mean you have that disorder; nor does it mean that trait is inherently unhealthy.

Plurality exists apart from and as a part of DID.
The diagnosis comes from the premise that the client is already plural.
The diagnosis does not determine whether the client was plural in the first place.

That is where people are getting it wrong.
They think the criteria are screening for plurality.
They aren’t.

And these are just the criteria needed to bill for treatment. Practitioners use interview tools and other things to determine whether the diagnosis is warranted.

This is what our dissociative specialist, an Advanced RNP, tells us; and is the same experience other non-diagnosable plural groups have related.
