“Plurality” as a term can apply to all experiences of being “more than one”.
This includes experiences occurring outside the purview of psychiatry.

Plurality experienced as part of cultural/spiritual beliefs, and plurality resulting from medical or other psychiatric conditions is still plurality.

However, because of its origins, it can’t be diagnosed as DID/OSDD-1. That’s what criteria 4 and 5 of the DSM are there to determine.

Those criteria determine if the condition is treatable by a psychiatrist, or if the patient should be referred to someone else.

But that doesn’t mean the plurality they are experiencing isn’t just as real.

Plurality existing outside psychiatry is not “undiagnosed DID/OSDD-1”.

It’s an “undiagnosable” state of being beyond the scope of practice of clinical psychiatry.
