I wonder sometimes if monogamous people just constantly feel betrayed. They set the bar of betrayal so low, where sometimes even looking at a stranger is an act of betrayal against one’s partner, that I feel like they must constantly feel betrayed. If they decide that admiring strangers, making new friends, or being friendly and flirtatious is a sign that their partner doesn’t love them they must constantly feel like their partners don’t love them. I wish they would stop setting themselves up for failure, stop breaking their own hearts, and set some reasonable expectations. Expecting someone not to kiss or have sex with anyone else is reasonable for monogamous people but not even finding others attractive is just so impossible.
