Thoughts on today’s X-books
Just finished today’s x-books. I wish I was confident that everyone was as uncomfortable with recent events (in general), as I am, because I am VERY uncomfortable.
Recent mutant events have been: deliberate conquest, murder of the ignored innocent by the trusted predator, & dastardly capitalism. And people are cheering for it. Cheering for mutant colonialism, trusting murderous predators around children, & capitalism .
Honestly I trust the creators, but I look at the fandom and I ask myself; in what kind of reality are so many people excited for this kind of shit to continue? I absolutely want to see mutants flourish but this is the path to ruin & people loving it. Lauding it.
Seeing the Arrako/Mars stuff brings so much mixed feelings for me because on the one hand its an amazing achievement; its exactly the kind of way I like to see powers used. To great effect but with effort. But like… its a bad thing. They tell us its bad.
They signal to us that it’s bad, with the way the tides wash away that little speck of human achievement. The little mars rover. But I don’t want it to be bad. It’s grand and amazing, and I can empathize I guess with people who feel that way about the rest.
But now someone we all care about is dead. Not just people like Irene and Maddy who they can try to make excuses about. And they’re dead because of the hypocritical permissive *weird stink* that Krakoa’s had since the beginning.
I’m frankly furious at the person who’s fault it is. And I don’t mean the murderer. I mean the person who enabled the murderer with a smile. They’ve been manipulated too, of course, but… ugh. Just… the whole thing stinks. Gotta tear out the rot.
