The “villains” who appear in the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home are *not* from the exact universes depicted in the Raimi and Amazing Spider-Man films, but rather from universes *similar to* but *different from* those films.

Observe:

Norman Osborn:

  • Discovers Peter Parker’s identity: well before his death, at Thanksgiving.
  • Status at time of death: helmet off, glider absent
  • Appears in MCU: wearing his helmet and riding his glider
  • This one could actually be from exactly the Raimi movie universe. If it is him he definitely won’t die when he goes back, because he must have been taken at least a few minutes before he died. (Before Spider-Man gave him a beating)

Otto Octavius:

  • Discovers Peter Parker’s identity: only moments before his death
  • Status at time of death: wet, wounded, tentacles semi-busted
  • Appears in MCU: dry, tentacles working just fine
  • Cannot be from the exact Raimi universe because by the time he knows Peter Parker’s identity there, his tentacles are damaged and he is wet. There is no opportunity for him to appear in the MCU after learning Peter’s identity but before dying.

Curt Connors

  • Discovers Peter Parker’s identity: Well before the end of the film
  • Status at time of death: Does not die, is cured to human
  • Appears in MCU: mutated into the Lizard
  • This could be from the Amazing movie universe only if he becomes the Lizard for a second time after the first movie.

Max Dillon:

  • Discovers Peter Parker’s identity: does not discover his identity
  • Status at time of death: blue electricity
  • Appears in MCU: blue electricity
  • He cannot be from the exact movie universe because he never discovers that Spider-Man is Peter Parker.

Flint Marko:

  • Discovers Peter Parker’s identity: At the end of the movie, after defeat
  • Status at time of death: Does not die in the movie
  • Appears in the MCU: dressed and empowered as end of film
  • He can be from the exact Raimi movie universe only if we accept that he’s going to fight Spider-Man again for some reason, even though they came to an understanding.
