The international fanbase went insane after chapter 125 of Tokyo Ghoul leaked online. Scanners quickly translated the chapter and fans were eager to read it, but a large segment of the fanbase went apeshit upon learning that Kaneki and Touka have sex!
If youâve read Tokyo Ghoul from the start or watched the anime, youâll know that it is obvious that Kaneki and Touka have feelings for each other. But, a dedicated segment of fans were adamant that Kaneki and his male best friend Hide would end up as a coupleâŚonly to have their ship destroyed by Sui Ishida.
Most fanbases have ravenous shipping wars, and itâs not uncommon for popular ships to sink because they donât fit into the story. Even Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima had to plead with his fans to stop attacking each other based on shipping.
Sadly, Tokyo Ghoul fans didnât get the message as they promptly attacked Ishida on social media with claims that he is homophobic and sharing pictures burning Tokyo Ghoul manga copies. Some fans even demanded that Ishida commits suicide while sharing their joy in pirating the series instead of legally supporting their once favorite manga.
However, there are Tokyo Ghoul fans who are teaming up to show Ishida their appreciation for his work and to counter-balance the vile comments towards him. The Tokyo Ghoul subreddit is planning on a campaign to send Ishida positive messages and fanart using the hashtag #IshidaAppreciation around May 27th or June 1st.
Tokyo Ghoul is an insanely popular series and attracts all kinds of fans that get invested into the series. But itâs like Mashima said, âAuthors cannot fulfill every wish their fans have. We have our own conviction when creating our stories.â
Maybe the art store needs to carry guns ammo and body armor?
So, weâve got this, âVoltronâ fans trying to blackmail the studio into making a m/m ship canon, Avimedes being given needle-laced cookies over âUndertaleâ fan art, people trying to shut down âVillainousâ before it even gets off the ground because one of the storyboardists drew NSFW fan art when she was a teenager, rampant false accusations of pedophilia, doxxing in the âStar Warsâ fandomâŚ
If you are one of the people taking part in this kind of behavior, or if you praise, support, or try to justify this behavior IN ANY WAY, you are a fucking sociopath, and you are NOT WELCOME in fandom.
Y’all are a bunch of socially-inept outcasts that hate yourselves and your own lives so much that you project yourselves into fiction in order to compensate.  Youâve become so clingy and obsessed with these fictional worlds that youâll willfully harm others over them IN REAL LIFE. You donât get anyoneâs sympathy. I donât care what you went through in the past: I donât care what youâre a victim of. I donât care what disorders you have. I donât care if youâre âa minor!â. NO ONE is obligated to give ONE SINGLE FUCK about ANY of thatâor about YOUâbecause NONE OF IT IS AN EXCUSE FOR THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR.
No more excuses. This ends in 2017. Itâs time we make it known that this conduct will no longer be tolerated in ANY fandom.
