I don’t get it.
I’ve had blogs follow me here or on my astrology blog and under their ‘don’t follow me if’, one of their requirements to not follow them is if you have their same fictionkin. Like?? Why??
Maybe it’s just because my kin types are animals, but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to meet someone with your same kin-types. I love meeting people with snow leopard theriotypes.
Also, be very careful about not wanting people with your same kin type to follow you. My friend got a very negative view of otherkin b/c three of her friends actively hate on people with their same kin-types. I had to clear up some shit for her that otherkin/therians are not like that and her friends are just being shits. What are valid reasons for not wanting people with your kin type to follow you?
This is one of the reasons people don’t consider copingkin part of the otherkin community. Since copingkin choose a fictional identity rather than have it simply be a part of you, they quite literally see themselves as that character in every way, possibly even physically (which is something that would set them apart from otherkin even more).
Seeing someone else who is fictionkin and the same character as them can make them uncomfortable (or even dissociate, but I don’t know enough about that to know if that’s exaggeration or not) as it could be similar to seeing an identical duplicate of yourself walking through the mall.
Some people (and maybe even some copingkin) find the idea of doppelgangers amusing since you could potentially talk to yourself from another dimension. But the majority of (if not all of) non-coping otherkin have absolutely zero problems with duplicates.
