I know its stupid but all the hate on the ‘creative people vs ordinary people’ list/meme is really upsetting to me.
Like just… leave it alone. Its cute. and some of us do experience the world that way.
I’ve also seen some people hating on it saying the ‘creative person’ is mentally ill, which makes shitting all over it at the same time kind of ableist.
I knew there was something off-putting about the hate for that meme. I mean, there are legit problems with it (for instance, the Native caricatures) but honestly a lot of the hate is undeserved.
It’s like how tumblr (and a lot of meme groups on facebook) will take any picture of a girl in nerdy/alt/gothic/any subculture fashion and rip it to pieces because being different apparently means you have a superiority complex, ESPECIALLY if you’re a woman.
Yeah, the Native American caricatures are legit not great, but it’s pretty clearly in context a Peter Pan reference, so its understandable if far from awesome.
But yeah, it just feels like part of the larger framework of taking anything innocent or for girls and shitting all over it in the name of being #serious and legitimate.
