I just have never been for taking innocent personal fantasy and shitting all over it. This is why I don’t find looking at say, people’s poorly done Sonic OCs particularly funny. Let people have whatever fantasies they want. Whether you find them ‘cringey’ or not. You are not the fantasy police. Stop trying to beat the imagination out of people because you’re too ‘sophisticated/down to earth/grown up’ for it.
What if the “innocent fantasy” in question was actually not so innocent, though? Like, my (currently on hiatus because SOMEONE has told me that I am not to continue wasting my time on this person) MST of my old cult leader’s horrible self-insert fic?
Given that the subject of the fic is basically the context and justification for *a cult* in my book its absolutely fine to mock it. Same goes for any kind of obvious propaganda or anything made for profit. (I love MST3k).
Honestly I don’t even condemn people who do mst any bad fanfic, sonic OCs, whatever, as long as they get the creator’s permission, or make sure its unlikely the creator will see/take it down on request. I get that that kind of thing can be funny, its just not my kind of humor. Hits too close to the bone I guess.
